The unfortunate incident occurred when Arpita Sardar, a fourth-class student, was on her way to school in the Bhandardah area of Domjur. An overloaded Toto, transporting several passengers, veered out of control and struck Arpita, leading to fatal injuries. Despite prompt intervention by the Domjur police, who reached the scene upon receiving the distress call, Arpita succumbed to her injuries upon arrival at the hospital.
The tense situation escalated as enraged locals, mourning the loss of the young student, took matters into their own hands. In an act of retaliation and protest against the negligent operation of Totos in the area, residents set the involved vehicle on fire. Meanwhile, the authorities have taken swift action by apprehending the Toto driver responsible for the tragic incident, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Arpita's death continue.
